AustCham Hong Kong, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong invite you to join us in celebration of International Women's Day for a special and meaningful evening of networking and celebrating women from across Hong Kong and AustCham's community.


Hosted by Chair of AustCham Women in Business Network, Dr. Victoria Elegant, the event provides an opportunity to meet fellow women from the AustCham, CAANZ and NZ Chamber networks, hear from inspirational speakers, deepen connections between our members, and learn more about the Chamber's WiBN and diversity initiatives for 2024.


Guest speakers will share their personal leadership journeys and advice for aspiring female business leaders operating in global business, including:

    Donna is a group-level finance leader with a strong focus on strategy design and transformation with experience in finance innovation, global transformation and capability building. Non executive director for Prudential Laos. Passionate in business sustainability and lifelong education, Donna has served multiple NGO boards and professional bodies, including the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, Hong Kong Baptist University, UNESCO and Rotary. She is a Chartered Accountant and has completed executive education through the Manchester Global MBA programme, Oxford Saïd Business School, and Cambridge Judge Business School.

    Professor Victoria Elegant is based in Hong Kong and was most recently Vice-President, JAPAC Regional Medical Head, and Site Head, China Research Site, Shanghai for Amgen. Prior to Amgen, Professor Elegant was the Vice-President, Regulatory and Medical Affairs, APAC, based in Shanghai for 10 years for Baxter, and Vice President, Medical Affairs, Asia for Baxalta.  Professor Elegant is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine UK (FPM), member of the FPM International Committee, and is an Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Medicine and member of the Board of Studies for the Masters in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. 

    She has published and spoken extensively on regulatory affairs, medical affairs and clinical development in the Asia Pacific region and is President of the Asia Pacific chapter of the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS). She is on the biotech advisory board to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Professor Elegant holds a medical degree from the University of London, and is passionate about improving standards of care and outcomes for patients in Asia. She is also involved in initiatives to support women in leadership.

    Fiona joined The Women’s Foundation as CEO in September 2017, combining her senior leadership experience with a passion for TWF’s mission to serve marginalised women and girls in Hong Kong. A former lawyer and Hang Seng Index company secretary, Fiona has lived in Hong Kong for over two decades having cultivated a career as a senior legal professional and adviser to a number of leading corporations in Hong Kong and around Asia including PCCW, AIA, AIG, Aviva, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery as well as SMEs, start ups and non-profit organisations.

    She is the Co-Founder of Room to Read's Hong Kong Chapter and helped establish the Regional Programme office in New Delhi, India. She is Deputy Chair and a Director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong (AustCham), and was Founder and Chair of its Women in Business Network. In 2015, Fiona won the People’s Choice Award for the Advancement of Women in Business at the AustCham-Westpac Australia China Business Awards.

    In 2020, Fiona was selected as the winner of the "Outstanding Achievement" award for the Women in Business Law Awards Asia 2020 for her professional accomplishments as well as advocacy and influence. In 2021, she was recognised at the AmCham Women of Influence Awards 2021 as Non-Profit Leader of the Year for her work to advance gender equality. In 2022, she was a recipient of Tatler’s Front & Female Hong Kong Awards.

    Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow (FGIA FCG) of the Governance Institute of Australia and the Chartered Governance Institute, a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, Australia and a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and sits on its Hong Kong Committee.

    Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner / Deputy Consul-General (Commercial) at Australian Trade And Investment Commission (Austrade) Hong Kong And Macau

    Shannon Powell commenced as Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner Hong Kong and Macau in January 2020. Previously, Shannon was the Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for Andean Latin America from 2015 to 2019, leading a team of 20 staff across Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Peru, based in Santiago. Her work focused on the promotion of Australian trade and education exports and managing commercial relationships and issues within a growing bilateral relationship.

    Shannon started her career in law, working within large Australian law firms before joining an Australian non-profit organisation, The Global Foundation where she led domestic and global teams facilitating trade and investment and policy development in the areas of mining, renewable energy, financial services, education, agribusiness and manufacturing. Prior to joining Austrade, she was Director of her own consultancy company, with clients across Australia, Brazil and the United States specialising in governance, leadership, community engagement and communications for large organisations. Shannon continues to sit on the Advisory Board of The Global Foundation.

    Shannon holds a Bachelor of Law (Hons.) and Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University and speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
